Jakes Fest Update

Jakes Fest planning is in full swing! The event will be September 24, 25, and 26, 2021. NAMBA will have 4 group rides on Saturday 25th, so we need about 20 people to help with the welcome tent and the rides. The groups will be geared to beginner exploration rides. Our plan is to show beginner and intermediate riders different trails than what they normally ride. All rides will be no drop rides on predetermined routes. The four rides will include a 5-6 mile ride and a 12-14 mile ride open to all riders. The other two beginner rides will be the same lengths but will be ladies rides. NAMBA will need a leader, tail and middle riders for all the rides. All rides will start between 9-10am and may include a free return trip on a shuttle. Routes and shuttle rides are still being finalized. We will also need members to volunteer at the tent starting Friday at about 2pm and running until Sunday during shuttle hours. All you need is your smile and to help get bikes off the shuttles. If you are able to help, please contact Ron J at jameson95@msn.com.

B.I.C.P. Class held

Five N.A.M.B.A members completed the Bicycle Instructor Certification Program held at Wesley Woods Christian Ed Center in May. Despite a little rain on Saturday the weather was great. There were a total of 7 people that participated and passed the certified guide and level 1 instructor class. We made 3 new friends, Mike from Mike's indoor bike park in Dayton OH, Josh the activities coordinator from Wesley Woods, and instructor Kelly from Lynchburg, VA. N.A.M.B.A members Keith, Cathy, Brad, Andy and Ron attended. The class opened our eyes to some of the basic things we do every time we ride and it also gave us the confidence and skills to be better instructors and riders. If you are in the Dayton OH area check out Mike's Bike Park they are open all year around(www.mikesbikepark.com). A special thanks to Kelly Hazelgrove for driving all the way up from VA if you are in the Lynchburg VA area stop in and check out Blackwater Bike Shop (www.blackwaterbikeshop.com). Last but not least thanks to Wesley Woods for putting on the class and feeding us. Remember they are having a mountain bike camp this year in July if you know of any kids who would like to take a week long class on mountain biking contact Wesley Woods at www.wesleywoods.com
